We hope that by reading this you will be able to understand our desires on openness during the adoption process. We respect you as birthparents and hope to be able to live up to your expectations for us, as adoptive parents. We admire the selflessness you exhibit as you make the decisions you are facing. We could not adequately express the gratitude we feel towards you. Our relationship can be a tricky one, but we know it is possible to make this a great experience. We are excited to get to know you and have this relationship grow. Please feel free to ask us about anything.
Openness with you...
We would like to know a lot about you. We hope to be able to tell this child stories about what their birthparents are like and share details about you with them. We would love to have open communication with you throughout this whole adoption process. However, we will respect your desires so if you have different desires, just let us know. We plan to keep an updated website for you to enjoy. Reed studies graphic/web design and plans to use those skills to keep updated info and pictures on this website. We are happy to write letters and send pictures as well.
Openness during parenting...
Honest and open communication are required for healthy relationships. We will strive to have this within our family. We feel it important to share our childs adoptive history. This will help our growing child recognize the love and support coming from you and to better understand his or herself. We hope that you, as birthparents, will help us with this. We’d like them to know what makes you happy, sad, laugh or how you react to different situations so we can appreciate moments when your characteristics shine through. The nurture part of their personality they will develop though us, but all of the nature part comes from you.
